Longlevens 4-0 Bourton Rovers

Rovers travelled to Gloucester on Saturday to face bogey side Longlevens and once again came away pointless.

The villagers found themselves one down after just 5 minutes after some sloppy defending left the home striker with a simple tap in.

Bourton were under relentless pressure from the home team and barely got out their own half and were only kept in the game by keeper Victor Burrell who pulled of some superb saves. The Rovers defence was broken again 5 minutes before the break after more sloppy defending, this time when Rovers failed to clear a corner and the ball was scrambled home, it was 3-0 moments later when the home striker out jumped Craig Gilson, and his looping header left Burrell with no chance.

Bourton came out a different team in the 2nd half and should of pulled a goal back in the first 2 minutes when Matt Winter played in Keelan Gilbert who crossed for Graham Newhook who somehow managed to put his shot over the bar from a yard out. Andrew Herbert then headed over the bar following a corner and Kevin Hunt shot wide from 20 yards.

The home team then made it 4-0 on 60 minutes when the home striker once again out jumped the Rovers defence and leave Burrell helpless. Bourton replied straight away when Herbert put Newhook through and this time he made no mistake.

The game fizzled out after that with Longlevens shutting up shop and clinching yet another win over Bourton.

Next week Rovers entertain fellow strugglers Brockworth Albion.
