Bourton Rovers  1 - 5  Lydbrook

Rovers mixed start to the season continued when they entertained high flying Forest of Dean side Lydbrook on Saturday.

The visitors started the better of the 2 teams but for all their possession the home defence restricted Lydbrook to long range efforts which keeper Kevin Goodwill coped with easily. The foresters did take the lead on 35 minutes when Carlos Stevens tried clearing the ball away only to see ball ricochet  of the visitors left midfielder and fall into his path and he duly drilled home from 10 yards out.

At the start of the second half the home team rallied and got just reward when a superb ball from Graham Newhook put Mark Payne clean through and he made no mistake to level the scores at 1-1.

Bourton were having their best spell of the match now but it was the away side who took the lead when a free kick from 20 yards was deflected in of Thomas Hubbard leaving Goodwill with no chance in the home goal, Lydbrook added a 3rd in the 70th minute when a Goodwill clearance was charged down by the Foresters striker and he just put the ball into a empty net.

Rovers were pushing on trying to get back in the game and had 2 goals disallowed, Newhook for being offside and Matt Winter for a foul, but it was Lydbrook who got the next goal, this time a penalty when Stevens pulled back the visiting striker, they soon got their 5th this time from a corner.  The Lydbrook centre defender headed goalwards and there seemed no danger  but Duncan Habbitts and Goodwill left it for each other and the ball trickled into the corner to end the day on a poor note for Rovers and another disappointing 2nd half performance.
