Brockworth 0-3 Bourton Rovers

Bourton made the trip to Gloucester on Saturday with a depleted team with Chris Mills, Stuart Hughes and Duncan Habbitts all missing.

Skipper Ben Acock moved from his regular left back spot to play his first ever game as a striker and he was partnered by the recalled Mark Payne.

The visitors got of to the best possible start when after only 4 minutes when Acock put Payne in space who crossed for Matt Winter who was just about to nod home when a home defender took it off his head with his hand and the ref had no choice but to award a penalty which Ryan Newhook smashed home.

Rovers were dominating the game with Acock giving the Brockworth defence a torrid time with his strength and his link up play with Payne.  Bourton could of increased their lead, but Payne shot wide, Acoock headed over Keelan Gilbert shot wide from 20 yards after a surging run, but they couldn't get the 2nd goal they deserved and needed with the slope in their favour.   The Rovers defence were solid and restricted the home team to just a couple of long range efforts which Andrew Herbert dealt with comfortably.

The second half was like the Alamo for Rovers at times with slope in Brockworth's favour they just kept pumping the ball into the Rovers area but Anders Harvey, Gary Clark, Timothy Hudson and Gilbert in defence cleared everything which came their way.  The injured Dave Davanzo was replaced by Kevin Hunt on 65 minutes and it was the sub who doubled the lead minutes later when superb play by Graham Newhook and Acock who released Hunt who fired past the home keeper.  With Brockworth pushing men forward to try and get something out of the game it was Rovers who scored again on the counter attack when Gilbert put Hunt through again, all the home defence stopped thinking he was offside but Hunt never and he went round the keeper and rolled the ball into a empty net to make it 3-0and wrap the game up.  Brockworth nearly pulled a goal back in the final minute but Hudson headed a goal bound effort of the line and complete another clean sheet for Bourton and another 3 points.
