Bourton Rovers 1-2 Kingswood

Bourton lost their first league game of the season with a poor performance against a good Kingswood side.

With Ben Acock and Keelan Gilbert still out through injury it meant Mark Payne and Matt Winter had to continue their defensive duties.  Bourton got off to a good start and took the lead on 10 mins when a hopeful 30 yard effort from skipper Stuart Hughes flew into the top corner, it should of been 2-0 shortly after when Kevin Hunt was put through by Mark Gainford but he put his shot into the side netting.

Kingswood started to up their game and soon levelled when a superb ball from the midfield split the Rovers defence for the visitors striker to have a clear run on goal, his initial shot was well saved by Andy Herbert but he rolled in the rebound.  The post came to the rescue minutes later and a few fine saves from Herbert  kept the scores level at half time.

The visitors took the lead on 55 minutes when some sloppy defending from Tim Hudson let in the Kingswood centre midfielder whose 20 yard effort was parried by Herbert into the path of the visitors striker who made no mistake from 5 yards out.  The rest of the game was pretty uneventful with Kingswood just soaking up the pressure and Bourton losing their discipline and the referee going card happy.

The home side nearly levelled late on when a Dave Davanzo corner was flicked on by Hughes to Winter whose header flew just wide and condemn Bourton to their first loss but they still stay in the top 6.

No game this week, got a bye in the county cup.
